Own Quarries in Rapolano Terme (Siena) and Tivoli (Rome)
Rapolano Terme (Siena) Travertine Quarry
One of the quarries owned by Aretina Marmi is located in Rapolano Terme, in the heart of the Crete Senesi, from which Tuscan travertine is extracted, a unique product because of its unmistakable colours.
The travertine of Rapolano is like every type of travertine, a sedimentary limestone rock, which consists primarily of calcium carbonate and small amounts of clay minerals, and is characterised by colours ranging from white to brown with marked veins that render it unique and immediately recognisable.

Tivoli (Rome) Travertine Quarry
The other quarry owned by the company is located in Tivoli from which are extracted  most of the varieties of travertine including the “Roman” travertine also called “Classic” travertine. Thanks to its unique qualities of compactness, toughness and elasticity, it a suitable material for many applications, from claddings to furnishing products.
The colour variation and the morphology of the veins, which give each material its unique characteristics, are dependent on the process of sedimentation of calcium carbonate, which has been disturbed by external events such as cyclical alluvial flooding.
